In Unseen Spaces - Moses Guide

Overview: This week’s message focuses on Moses' years in the wilderness, a time often overlooked but essential in preparing him to lead. In the quiet work of tending sheep, God transformed Moses, working Egypt’s influence out of him and instilling patience. This unseen season teaches us that God does profound work in our own ordinary moments, preparing us for what lies ahead.

Discussion Questions:

  1. Reflecting on Unseen Seasons:

    • When you think of Moses, which parts of his story come to mind? Why do you think we often overlook his years in the wilderness?

    • Have you experienced a season that felt like “wilderness” or waiting? How did that impact your faith or outlook?

  2. God’s Work in Ordinary Moments:

    • Moses spent forty years in the wilderness doing everyday tasks like shepherding. How do you feel about the idea that God works in our ordinary moments?

    • What might God be inviting you to notice or “tend to” in your daily routine?

  3. Learning Patience and Trust:

    • In the wilderness, Moses learned patience, a quality he’d need for his future leadership. Do you find patience challenging in times of waiting or uncertainty? Why?

    • How might God use seasons of waiting to deepen our trust in Him?

  4. “Getting Egypt Out” of Our Lives:

    • Moses had to unlearn Egypt’s ways and embrace a new identity aligned with God’s vision. Are there “Egypt-like” influences in your life that God might be calling you to release?

    • What might it look like to let go of control or impatience and trust God’s timing more fully?

  5. Seeing Waiting as an Invitation:

    • Waiting often feels like a waste of time, but it can also be an invitation to deeper intimacy with God. Have you ever experienced growth in a season that felt unproductive at first?

    • How can we support each other in embracing God’s timing and presence in our everyday lives?

Prayer: Close by inviting group members to pray, asking God to help them recognize His work in the unseen places of their lives, trust His timing, and learn patience through His presence.

Optional Practice: Encourage each person to identify one “ordinary” moment or task this week where they’ll intentionally pause to seek God’s presence, asking Him to reveal any quiet work He might be doing in their lives.
